Kinsler rejoined Texas.
MLB.com, the official MLB website, reported on February 7 (Korean time) that the Texas Rangers had appointed Ian Kinsler as a special assistant to the general manager.
The Texas team officially announced the appointment of Kinsler as a special assistant that day. Kinsler helps general manager Chris Young run the club.
Returning to Texas after 10 years. Kinsler, a franchise star in Texas, left Texas in the winter of 2013 in a trade with Prince Fielder, and after going through Detroit Tigers, LA Angels, Boston Red Sox, and San Diego Padres, retired from the major leagues at the end of the 2019 season.
After retiring, he worked as a special assistant in the player development department in San Diego, where he last worked. Kinsler, who gained experience in the front line in San Diego, plans to return to his parents’ home and help Texas make a comeback.
“I was drafted by Texas and I grew up in Texas,” Kinsler said, according to MLB.com. “A lot of the people here have influenced my career. I feel really good to be back in Texas and I’m excited about what I can accomplish here.”
Born in 1982, Kinsler was drafted by Texas in the 17th round of the 2003 draft and made his big league debut in 2006 by finishing 7th in the Rookie of the Year voting. He played in 1,066 games over eight years at Texas, hitting .273/.349/.454 with 156 home runs, 539 RBIs and 172 stolen bases, and was named an 메이저놀이터 All-Star three times. Kinsler, who ranks 2nd in Texas all-time in stolen bases, 6th in runs scored, 7th in extra-base hits and walks, and 8th in home runs, was inducted into the Texas Club Hall of Fame last year. His career performance in 14 big league seasons was .269/.337/.440 in 1,888 games, 257 home runs, 909 RBIs, and 243 stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Kinsler will participate in the 2023 World Baseball Classic held in March as the coach of the Israeli national team.
