Seongnam FC head coach Lee Ki-hyung broke a four-game losing streak with a draw against Chungbuk Cheongju.
Seongnam drew 0-0 with Chungbuk Cheongju in the 19th round of the ‘Hana OneQ K League 2 2023’ at Cheongju Sports Complex at 7 p.m. on March 3.
Seongnam, which had lost to Anyang (1-0), Chungnam Asan (0-2), Seoul Eland (1-0) and Bucheon (0-1) in its previous four matches, had to settle for a point for the first time in five games.
Coach Lee said, “I could see the eagerness to end the losing streak. It would have been nice to end the losing streak with a win, but I hope the players can gain confidence from this game. If the fans give us a little encouragement, we will rebound and give them good news.”
“Chungbuk Cheongju’s Peter, Jang Hyuk-jin and George are very threatening players. We used a 5-4-1 formation for the first time to suit them. We tried to defend while strengthening the center (midfield), and the players did a good job.”
On the other hand, “when we were attacking, the midfield should have been more aggressive and received (the ball). It was hot, 안전놀이터 so there were some tactical mistakes,” he said.
On the debut performance of forward Jin Sung-wook, who is on loan from Jeju, he said, “I was worried about him, but he showed his worth on the field. He’s just recovered from an injury, and if he can build up his body through training, he’ll be useful to the team.”
“We are looking at players who can play on the flanks with Shadow. We are also talking about central defense, but the existing players are doing a good job.”
Seongnam remained in 10th place with 21 points from five wins, six draws, and seven losses.
